An event! An event!

I was contacted with a request to add information about the Solent Coasts Cycling Challenge to our webpage.

As part of National Bike Week entries are now being taken for the 2007 Solent Coasts Cycling Challenge, which covers 66 miles, 6 ferry crossings and varied terrain in the South Hampshire and the Isle of Wight area all in one day. The course is self-navigated so it is not just a physical challenge. The circular route begins at Lymington ferry terminal and encompasses Cowes, Portsmouth, Southampton and The New Forest. Taking in spectacular scenery across the Isle of Wight Downs and the South Coast in order to raise money for humanitarian aid.

You know, I’m all in favour of fun ways of spending my money to make it useful elsewhere. I like charity shops for that reason. But apparently The event is supported by local ferry companies who generously subsidise ferry tickets for participants, making the total cost of the crossings a fraction of the normal price. Sounding even better.

There are a limited number of places, so if you are interested, have a look at the website or email info@solent-challenge.org.uk.

There are a couple of other events in June, the London-Brighton ride to raise money for BHF, and the world naked bike ride. Could be an energetic month!
